“Tim,” a student shouts. “Hey Tim!”
I turn.
The golden hue of the setting sun through the cafe windows makes a perfect accessory. It very nicely compliments and enhances this girl’s straight, sandy blonde hair.
Looking at her I answer, “Sup?”
“You gotta’ see the new screensaver on my cell phone,” she says.
“Show me,” I reply.
She flips open her phone. Her screensaver is a picture of a chalkboard at Cups Cafe.
“That’s awesome!” I exclaim. “Now wait. Hold it there. I wanna’ get a picture of this with my phone.”
This chalkboard usually displays the soup of the day. But I recently erased it and decided to use it to send a message to cafe guests.
The chalkboard now reads: TALK TO GOD
My hope in writing this on the chalkboard was to encourage guests to have a conversation with Him. I was psyched to find a student who liked it enough to snap a picture and set it as a screensaver (didn’t expect that kind of response). Now she can have this important reminder with her wherever she goes.
Thanks for your support of Cups Cafe. Your contributions empower us to plant seeds like this in the hearts of teens in Medina.
Relationships typically begin with a conversation…by simply saying, “Hello.”
So who knows?
Maybe she went home that very night, laid down to go to sleep, stared at the ceiling and introduced herself to God.
P.S. Tony Miles (pastor of Connection Church) wrote an article in the Gazette and mentioned the cafe. To read it click here.
