THANKSGIVING MEAL

Cups Cafe will serve a free Thanksgiving Meal on:

Wednesday, November 24, 2010 from

3-6pm at

Cups Cafe   (126 N. Court St. Unit C Medina, OH 44256). All those hungry and in need (adults and teens) are welcome. We will happily serve until we run out of food. Please pass the word. Thanks!

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

Cups Cafe will celebrate its 3rd Anniversary during the Candlelight Walk Weekend Nov. 19-21 on the square of Medina. Please stop in for a FREE hot cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa with whipped cream and chocolate syrup (YUM!).

Everything at the cafe is free and you DO NOT have to be in need to stop in for a cocoa or coffee to keep you warm as you walk the square to enjoy the sights. Save yourself (and/or family) a buck and please stop in for something warm to eat and drink and to check out the cafe.

You WILL NOT be taking away from those in need by coming to the cafe. We plan ahead and have plenty of supplies to go around. This particular weekend for Cups is not about meeting needs as much as it is about celebrating all God is doing by serving the whole community all while promoting the work of this organization.

If you were planning on using your hard earned money to help the downtown businesses by purchasing a coffee or cocoa, then choose to stop into Cups Cafe instead and make a donation for the amount you planned on spending to support the cafe and let us serve you a delicious hot drink.

Cafe HOURS of OPERATION that weekend:

Friday November 19, 2010 3-9pm

Saturday November 20, 2010 3-9pm

Sunday November 21, 2010 3-6pm (Birthday cake served at 5pm)

“Tim,” a student shouts. “Hey Tim!”

I turn.

The golden hue of the setting sun through the cafe windows makes a perfect accessory. It very nicely compliments and enhances this girl’s straight, sandy blonde hair.

Looking at her I answer, “Sup?”

“You gotta’ see the new screensaver on my cell phone,” she says.

“Show me,” I reply.

She flips open her phone. Her screensaver is a picture of a chalkboard at Cups Cafe.

“That’s awesome!” I exclaim. “Now wait. Hold it there. I wanna’ get a picture of this with my phone.”

This chalkboard usually displays the soup of the day. But I recently erased it and decided to use it to send a message to cafe guests.

The chalkboard now reads: TALK TO GOD

My hope in writing this on the chalkboard was to encourage guests to have a conversation with Him. I was psyched to find a student who liked it enough to snap a picture and set it as a screensaver (didn’t expect that kind of response). Now she can have this important reminder with her wherever she goes.

Thanks for your support of Cups Cafe. Your contributions empower us to plant seeds like this in the hearts of teens in Medina.

Relationships typically begin with a conversation…by simply saying, “Hello.”

So who knows?

Maybe she went home that very night, laid down to go to sleep, stared at the ceiling and introduced herself to God.

P.S. Tony Miles (pastor of Connection Church) wrote an article in the Gazette and mentioned the cafe. To read it click here.
