I roar into the parking lot on my scooter. My riding gear on this particular day? A slightly soaked swimsuit, t-shirt, and flip-flops. I hop off the bike and unlock the cafe doors. Within minutes, a line of sun-kissed kids forms along the building. Their bicycles are scattered across the parking lot. They push and shove and peek through the glass doors. I hear muffled voices saying,

"Is it open?"

"I think I see him!!"

I finish prepping the cafe and push open the front door. The outside air punches at me. It feels like Beelzebub's breath. The band of shirtless, shoeless, and sweaty kids push and shove their way inside. They pant like dogs for kool-aid, sweet tea, and popsicles.

Cups Cafe does not have a "NO SHOES, NO SHIRT, NO SERVICE" policy. I mean…we do ask that kids dress respectfully. However, with the sweltering weather lately, I decide not to give the shirtless boys a hard time. After all, I’m serving in a swimsuit that is still dripping chlorinated water down my legs.

Ahhh, just another sweet summer day at Cups.

Attached is the fair schedule. Please pick a shift. We NEED you. If your email blocks attachments, then click here for the latest schedule.

T-shirts for the fair are being donated and a special gift is being given to cover the cost of the Fidelity Bond. We’ve even been offered bottles of water and so now we just need…

…YOU!

Cups Café is responsible for selling tickets and collecting signatures on waiver forms at Gate #1 for all infield Grand Stand events during the fair from August 1st - August 7th (not including Wednesday 8/3/11). Cups is contracted to receive $3,750 upon the reconciliation of all money after the fair.

We are seeking volunteers to serve as Cashiers, Assistant Cashiers, and Signature Collectors at the fair to help us successfully complete this fundraising project.

Will you pick a job and serve?

You get to work on your sun tan, spend time with Tim & Mindee (she’s taking an unpaid break from her job to help), get in the fair for free after your shift, earn a free cups t-shirt, and help Cups raise 2 1/2 month’s worth of rent money.

Think of it this way:   Volunteering to serve 4 hours at the fair equates to a one time financial donation of $30. That’s $7.50/hour. Your gift of time is real money for Cups Cafe. Please consider giving time.

It’s simple:

STEP #1: Choose a job

STEP #2: Choose a 4 hour shift (9am - 1pm, 1pm - 5pm, or 4pm - 8pm)

STEP #3: Show up on time ready to serve.
